Buy wL1 on Base.

Use MetaMask and the verified wL1/USDC pool on Base. This step gives you wrapped L1 (wL1) on Base; it does not yet give you native L1 on GenesisL1.

YOU WILL NEED
  • MetaMask
  • USDC on Base
  • ETH on Base for gas

01

Prepare a self-custody wallet

Install MetaMask only from its official website. Create a new wallet or import an account you already control, then store the Secret Recovery Phrase offline. FirstTensor, Uniswap, and the bridge will never need that phrase.

Install or open MetaMaskUse the official MetaMask app and continue only with a wallet whose recovery phrase you control.
02

Switch MetaMask to Base

Open the network selector in MetaMask and choose Base Mainnet. If Base is not listed, add it from MetaMask's supported networks. Confirm chain ID 8453 before continuing.

Select Base networkOpen MetaMask's network selector and choose Base before funding or swapping assets.
03

Prepare USDC and Base gas

Fund the same MetaMask account with USDC for the purchase and a small amount of ETH for Base transaction fees. Gas costs vary, so do not rely on a fixed dollar amount.

Check USDC and ETHConfirm that USDC and enough ETH for Base gas are available in the same account.
04

Open the verified Uniswap route

Open the verified Base pool and confirm the network is Base. Select USDC as the input asset and wL1 as the output asset. Verify the complete wL1 contract before approving anything: 0xE6522A891702Cd2E8CC2A5182638c9DA1DD44B22.

Verify the wL1 marketCheck the Wrapped L1 market, Base network, and full verified contract before entering the swap.
05

Swap USDC for wL1

Enter the USDC amount, review the expected wL1 output, price impact, minimum received, route, and network fee. A first swap may require one approval transaction followed by the swap transaction. Confirm each prompt in MetaMask only after checking it.

Review and confirmReview the USDC input, expected wL1 output, and network cost before selecting Swap.
06

Verify the result

Wait for the Base transaction to confirm. If wL1 is not visible automatically, import it in MetaMask using the verified Base contract address. Your balance at this point is wL1 on Base.

Confirm the wL1 balanceAfter confirmation, verify that wL1 appears in the MetaMask account on Base.
